I have decided that I would like to do a project about my family home. Number 32 tranby lane is were me and my mum both spent our childhoods, and now years later as adult we have once again returned to this family home. I am interested in the memory that are locked in the walls of this house.
I would really like to do something inside the buildings to try and put the life back into them, I also like the idea that the work I do inside the building with be demolished with it. I have been reading a book called up in the air wich is about several artist who did a site project in a tower block a few weeks before it was to be demolished. Each artist createed wvery different pieces of work to...

I have recently been doing some photography work on derelict buildings, and in particular an area in hull which has a community of empty houses that have been emptied ready to be knocked down. I found it quite eerie when walking around the streets which were no longer occupied with people, it was like a ghost town. I started searching for houses that had been vandalised or broken into and taking...

I much prefer the images when they are in black and white to when they are in colour, however I do belive this may be due to the fact I dont have particualrly nice colours of wax, however I have decided to do a little bit of reseach into encaustic art before I go any further with this project.
I have now started tried reversign the images and have found that like them alot more when the lines are black instead of white, I like the way that by heightening the contrast it has brought out alot of the texture in the wax.
I have now startd to play around with the differnt wax pieces on photoshop to see what kind of effects I can create. When on photoshop I have been using the contrast and gradient map to make the image bolder and also, to increase the texture.
Encaustic art
I have recently been creating images using encaustic art which is an art technique using wax, I have spoke once before about this technique but have only recently began experimanting with it again. I have now been creating the different images using the iron and the wax and then I have been drawing into the wax using a sharp mental object, I am at the moment replacing the expressive painting...
The Extended Essay/Dissertation
I have just started doing more focused research in the last few weeks and have a good idea on what i want i want to right about, I want to do a sort of study on the portrayal of the insane in art work through the 1th century onward and talk about how it have changed peoples perceptions on the mentally ill. I have now started looking at different ways that artists depicted the insane in there art...
With the exhibition preview night looming I have decided not to redo the first board and to actually just leave it out of the exhibition, although this will mean that I wont be able to hang my boards symmetrically, I feel it is necessary to ensure I have ample time for printing!
I have decided to leave the first painting alone for the time being as I feel there can be no way of improving it without starting again, instead of becoming more frustrated I have decided to concentrate on the other final bored and getting that right.
